{Self-Care & October Giveaway} Mommy Time Offers Working Homeschool Moms a Place for Renewal

Special thanks to Mommy Time* for this month's giveaway.

What are you in the mood for? A massage? Some yoga?  Mommy Time delivers.

While I was researching my book, I became familiar with the many challenges working homeschool parents face.

One of those challenges involves parental self-care.

Allocating time and energy to nurturing one's body and soul is as essential to success on work and school fronts as sunshine is to plants. Unfortunately, self-care (like sleep) is too frequently backburnered by all parents, most especially working homeschoolers.

In the coming years, as our population grows, I predict that savvy entrepreneurs will opt to reach out to working homeschoolers alongside stay-at-home parents of young children. It's only logical since our needs overlap. Just like all parents of young kids, we working homeschoolers could use some hands-on help to free us up to exercise, get a massage, and socialize a little with other parents in an inviting atmosphere.

Mommy Time in San Antonio offers that sort of collegial atmosphere for parents--and a great play space for kids. I know this because, thanks to Mommy Time, I got to hang out with some of my favorite local bloggers last week. Our crew is a great mix of work-at-home moms, some of whom homeschool, too. Together we took a yoga class and followed it with light massages.

Do we not glow in this photo? (Special thanks to Amanda of ARG Photographs for all images in this post.)

Our kiddos that day were either in school or enjoying the on-site childcare option.  (Some of us homeschool, others do not.) We had so much fun in our yoga class. What a treat. And we followed it a few days later with a mommy-and-me yoga class.

If getting a bit of exercise with friends (and maybe meeting new friends) sounds like something you'd enjoy--and you live in the San Antonio area, I have a special giveaway just for you.

Mommy Time USA has offered up a goodie bag of items for new moms (including a darling black-and-white print Udder Covers breastfeeding cover in the Marilyn print that would make a fantastic gift if you're past the "nursling years") along with a gift certificate to try three classes of your choice.

  1. Hi, Im a SAHM of 5 great kids. My youngest is 11 weeks old. All my kiddoes are homeschooled. Like many other moms my life is indeed busy. I spend most of the time around family but not just hanging our I am a care taker of many. My mother has been on dialysis for 20 + years my father just recently has been diagnosed with diabetes, and my husband has diabetes pancreatitus and ulcers. I am an only child so I carry this with God help. To have a moment where I am able to clear my mind and focus on meditating and being centered again would be great. I love what I do for my family but having some mommy time would be priceless.

  2. I'm a stay at home mom to my 9 month old son. The Air Force moved us to San Antonio six months ago. Having a 3 month old baby in a city where you don't know a single person is daunting to say the least. That was one of the reasons I started my own blog back in August. A little uninterrupted yoga sounds glorious right now!

  3. Congrats, Ashley. I'll message you shortly.
